As this summer continues to be one of the most violent in recent memory, Crossroads Fund is honored to support youth-led projects in Chicago addressing violence in their communities and neighborhoods. One of those projects is A Long Walk Home’s Girl/Friends Leadership Institute. The Girl/Friends Leadership Institute works with 30 young women from Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood, and helps them use art and performance to educate about violence against women. Over the course of the year, these young women use their creativity to heal from the violence they have experienced in their own lives, while becoming leaders in their school and neighborhood. You can read more about A Long Walk Home on their website, and in the second half of this recent post on the Colorlines Blog.
