Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender Rights

Members of Affinity Community Services
It took 30 years to amend the Illinois Human Rights Act to include protections for people based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and throughout that time a long time of community organizations and activists – were pushing from the grassroots to make it happen. Crossroads Fund has been an ally and supporter of a broad-based LGBT movement, and they play a role in our efforts to make schools safe for LGBT youth and families.
- Shannon Sullivan, Illinois Safe Schools Alliance.

Crossroads Fund was the first funder in Chicago to fund LGBT organizations, and we continue to serve as a key source of funding for new and emerging LGBT groups, particularly among youth. Our grantees have been instrumental in winning historic victories for the queer community in Chicago, from the passage of the Illinois Human Rights Act, to anti-bullying legislation and domestic partnership laws.
