Youth Fund for Social Change
In 2007, Crossroads Fund received a legacy grant from the Girls Best Friend Foundation, supporting the formation of a special grantmaking initiative, which funds youth advocacy and activism projects in the Chicago area. The Youth Fund for Social Change enables us to have a targeted impact on the growing sector of youth organizations in the Chicago area.
Examples of projects we’ve funded through this initiative are:
- A youth forum in Little Village aimed at preventing violence and promoting peace, that engages more than 1000 youth and 20 community organizations each spring.
- A peer advocate program for queer youth of color, which gives youth leadership skills while training them in harm-reduction, anti-violence, and anti-oppression practices.
- A youth group for Korean immigrants who have been involved at the state and national level in the fight for immigrant rights.
