Environment

Poor people and people of color disproportionately experience the negative effects of pollution and environmental destruction. From climate change to the pollution of our region’s waterways, Crossroads Fund grantees are taking on the biggest environmental issues in Chicago. Pilsen Environmental Rights and Reform Organization and the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization, both Crossroads grantees, have joined forces to introduce a groundbreaking Chicago City Council ordinance that would regulate two coal fired power plants currently polluting their neighborhoods and the city at large.
